Well water and bottles
Anyone here on well water? How do you do bottles/bottle washing? We will be staying with family over the holiday and they are on well water. Is boiling enough? We will probably buy water to actually make bottles, but what about washing and sanitizing bottles? Any advice/ideas/tips? Thanks!!!

Do you know if the water has been tested recently?
My mum is on a well and her water is tested regularly so I just wash everything per usual and sanitize in microwave once a week.
@alexms01,
I would use bottled water or jugs of distilled water. No reason to have it tested or take a risk.
Washing shouldn't be a concern but the medela sanitizing bags for the microwave are easy to use.
@alexms01,
I just figure if it safe for us to drink it's safe to wash my pump stuff in!
@amandamac86,
I don't know what they specifically test for but we used to not be able to drink the well water so we take it to the municipality office and they send it for testing.
For a few days, I wouldn't sanitize.
@alexms01,
Not sure about the water being tested recently, I will ask though! Is there anything in particular I should ask about? Fluoride level, etc? We are staying only a few days, so do you think I should still sanitize? Thanks everyone!!
I have well water at my house and my daughter gets one formula bottle a day, the rest is breastmilk. I use water straight from the tap for every formula bottle I make. I don't boil it or anything and when I wash bottles they are fine
We have well water at our cabin and we are there every other weekend. I was LOs bottles there and don't sanitize. We use bottled water to make her bottles.
Well water should be tested for E. coli and parasites.
We are on well water and I just use really hot water and dish soap when cleaning bottles. I don't worry about it. We drink water from the grocery store that has been uv treated that we fill our water jugs with though.
Glad I found this post, im going up to my parents for Thanksgiving and they are on a well. There's has been tested and is fine, I'm going to use bottled water to make bottles, but will wash with the tap water and then use the steam bags for the nipples, I use drop in liners for the bottles so those are clean.
My 4 year old was a formula baby and we went right from the tap with all his bottles. If you are worried buy bottled water.
I have well water at home, I use nursery water for her bottles - never ever have I used well water for her to drink. I do wash her bottles in well water, and I boil them every time I'm done washing. I've not had any problems! :)
